Diet: Your hair is part of your body and it cannot stay healthy if your own health is suffering. The start for healthy hair begins with a good diet. Hair is like the other cells in our body and hence, it requires the same rich nutrition. The two most important things for hair are iron and protein. A diet lacking in the two will mean brittle and listless hair. Hair cells are some of the fastest growing cells in your body, but a poor diet or deficiencies will slow down the growth. so, include proteins like cheese, yogurt, lentils and iron rich foods like spinach, beans and cereals.

Combing:

When combining your hair, handle it gently. Rough and jerky combing can break the hair. It is especially important to handle your hair gently when it is wet because it is more prone to break. Use a broad tooth comb to gently comb your hair. Start with running it through the ends of the hair, separating the strands gently.

Oiling:

Oiling is nutrition for your hair. It gives your hair nutrition and strengthens them from within. Coconut, olive and almond oils are all highly recommended. Warm some oil and then gently massage into your scalp and hair. Follow this massage with a hair moisturizer cream.Leave it in for some time, at least an hour. Better still, leave it in overnight. You can then wash it off.

Washing:

To keep your hair clean, washing it is very important. However, if your hair texture is dry and rough, do not wash your hair too frequently. To wash your hair, wet it completely. Take a small amount of shampoo and massage it into your scalp. Be gentle and not scrub your scalp roughly or too hard. Rinse your hair thoroughly, taking care that the shampoo is completely washed off. Follow this with a conditioner. Apply it generously to your hair. Leave it in for three minutes and then wash it off

Conditioning:

This is very important for lustrous hair. Apart from the regular conditioning after every wash, once in while give your hair some deep conditioning. Towel dry your hair after washing it. Massage hair moisturizer cream up to the roots. Use a broad-toothed comb to see that the conditioner spreads all across. Leave it in for some time — up to an hour, if you can. Now rinse off the conditioner.
